Stainless steel-HOW I CLEAN MY STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES

I was wishy-washy about putting stainless steel in our kitchen, because I’m actually a fan of white appliances. Gasp! It is true. I had to be convinced to go stainless steel. One thing that made me super nervous were the greasy fingerprints, which I noticed on all the display models at the store. (Maybe I should email this post to those stores?) There are three little ones running around this house, which means there are thirty fingers actively leaving their marks all over my home and stainless steel appliances. It will be very soon when baby is adding his ten fingerprints to the mix. Children live here and I don’t mind being reminded. Still, it is nice to clean the appliances in the kitchen and give the children a clean slate for their finger smudge art. Right?

Stainless steel-THE BEST & FASTEST WAY TO CLEAN STAINLESS STEEL WITH PLEDGE

i love my stainless steel appliances, but what I don’t love is the fingerprints and smudge marks. Having a toddler doesn’t help with this problem, since she’s constantly touching our fridge and dishwasher. I think I have tried at least 10 products; from chemicals to natural options, but nothing seems to clean the stainless steel. I honestly had given up on cleaning my stainless steel, but while I was at my local Kroger grocery store (Ralph’s) I wandered the cleaning aisle to try one last time. I ended up finding the Pledge® Multi Surface Everyday Cleaner with Glade® Rainshower.

Stainless steel-How To Clean Stainless Steel Appliances with Vinegar and Oil

Stainless steel appliances look great in the kitchen, but they’re prone to showing hard water marks and fingerprints. Stainless steel-How to Clean Stainless Steel Appliances

I am pumped! We just got ourselves a brand new, stainless steel dishwasher! Our old one was no longer cleaning our dishes: Fifty percent of the time, the soap didn’t dissolve, so we were left with a hard clump in the dispenser, the brackets that held the racks in place kept breaking… and if none of that sounds like reason enough to be annoyed, it was also growing weird, slime-y orange stuff inside. (Totally gross!) After ranting for years (’cause that’s always helpful), my husband calls and asks if I’m ready to bring home a new dishwasher. (Ummm… Let me think on that…) He had found a high-quality, name-brand dishwasher, on sale, because it had been the floor model. Since we are not fans of our current creamy-colored appliances, we went with stainless steel.

There is a wide range of commercial and do-it-yourself products that can be used to remove fingerprints and water marks from stainless steel products. However, the manufacturer’s instructions may be very specific about what cleaners you should use on your stainless steel appliances. (Some brands even recommend avoiding certain cleaners in nearby areas of the kitchen as the fumes can damage the stainless steel finish.) Go rogue, and you risk voiding your warranty. As many larger kitchen appliances are quite pricey, you probably don’t want to do that, so take some time to read the care instructions before you clean your refrigerator or oven.
